“…One gets the impression that the cellist lives only in her performance. She sings the second theme with warmth and the beginning of the development has such an interpretative depth that it surprises her as the fruit of a young interpreter…”
Miriam Prandi, thanks to a musical talent of rare communication and versatility, stands out with her interpretations as an exceptional personality capable of tackling the solo and chamber repertoire not only as a cellist but also as a pianist.
In January 2014 she was awarded the overall First Prize at the Rahn Musikpreis in Zurich by a jury of important musicians chaired by the cellist Sol Gabetta, making her debut at the Tonhalle in Zurich with Dvořák’s Concerto.
Among the numerous debuts as a soloist, Miriam Prandi performed at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan under the direction of Vladimir Fedoseyev, and in 2023 with the National Orchestra of the Polish Radio (NOSPR) in Katowice under the direction of Michele Spotti.
In the 2024/2025 season, she performed as a soloist on the European tour with the MusicAeterna Orchestra under Teodor Currentzis, with concerts at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Verdi Festival at the Teatro Regio di Parma, and at the Teatro Galli for the Sagra Musicale Malatestiana. In the same season, she stepped in for Misha Maisky as the soloist in Dvořák’s Cello Concerto on the Italian tour with the Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Andrey Boreyko.
As a young Italian interpreter, she performed at the Cultural Days of the European Union Bank in Frankfurt, sharing the programme with renowned artists such as Claudio Abbado, Uto Ughi, and Stefano Bollani. In May 2016 she achieved critical and public acclaim with her performance of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto at the RAI Auditorium for the Unione Musicale di Torino. In that occasion, the italian critic Giorgio Pestelli wrote in La Stampa:
“Miriam Prandi impressed as a soloist for the beauty of her tone, the breadth and phrasing, at ease in both vibrant lyricism and the most delicate, dreamlike passages.”
She has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Gstaad Festival Orchestra under Neeme Järvi, the Haydn Orchestra conducted by Michele Mariotti, the Armenian Symphony Orchestra under Gianluca Marcianò, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana under Donato Renzetti, as well as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Berner Symphonieorchester, the Arena di Verona Orchestra, and many others.
Frequently invited to perform in her dual role as pianist and cellist, in 2016 she made her debut at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival at the Teatro dell’Opera di Firenze, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto K.595 and Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major.
In 2020, Suonare News published the live recording of her concert at the Salone of the Conservatorio Verdi of Turin, featuring Mozart’s Piano Concerto K.414 and Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major, accompanied by the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino (OFT).
Cellist of the delian::quartett from 2016 to 2018, she has been a regular guest at important musical centers such as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Rheingau Musik Festival.
In 2018 the album was released by Oehms Classics with the complete recording of Bach's Art of Fugue recorded at Deutschlandfunk in Cologne.
Her chamber music activity includes repeated appearances at the Oleg Kagan Musikfest in Kreuth, Chamber Music Connects the World at the Kronberg Academy, the Gläserner Saal of the Musikverein Vienna, the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, and the Accademia Chigiana, performing alongside Salvatore Accardo, Natalia Gutman, Andrea Lucchesini, and Pavel Vernikov. She has also appeared in recital with pianists Pietro De Maria and Alexander Romanovsky in Italy and abroad.
At the invitation of Stefano Bollani, she appeared in prime time on the Rai 3 television programme Via dei Matti.
Most recently, Amadeus Magazine released an album featuring her performance of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) conducted by Michele Spotti, broadcast live on national radio.
At the age of eleven, well before earning her diplomas in piano and cello at fifteen and sixteen with honours and special distinction from the Conservatorio di Mantova, she was exceptionally admitted to the cello courses of Antonio Meneses at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, receiving a scholarship and diploma of merit each year.
As a young student, she was also admitted to the International Piano Academy in Imola and later to the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, where she studied with Andrea Lucchesini. After studying with Marianne Chen and Natalia Gutman, she furthered her training with Antonio Meneses, earning her Master’s degree in Solo Performance with distinction from the Hochschule der Künste in Bern in 2014, as a scholarship recipient of the Ambrosoli Foundation and the Lyra Foundation.
A decisive influence on her artistic development was her technical and interpretative refinement under Ivan Monighetti, and she has also taken masterclasses with Martin Löhr, David Geringas, Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, and Ralph Kirshbaum.
